Polly Line's new kitchen

After a year with lots of stress at work, my head has been completely blank these last few weeks, so I have hardly been able to post, or even comment on your blogs. Instead I helped Polly Line finish her new kitchen. That is, she did most of the decorating, but she needed some chairs and a table, so I found some used ones for her. And you're all most welcome to come inside and have a look!

View from the living room

She also found a little spot in the corner of the kitchen for her computer.

A lent lily is blossoming on the windowsill next to a little glass ladybird. Where did she borrow it?

Salad for one.

Wall art by Frank Lloyd Wright, one of Polly Line's favourite architects.

Full view of the kitchen.

Credits: The kitchen is the newest Lundby type. The chairs are vintage Lundby and the table is vintage Barton. The tabletop was originally red, but I painted it black with watercolours that'll easily come off should I/she change my/her mind. The computer table is vintage Triang. The ceiling lamp is Lundby, originally the colour was brass, but I painted it. Shopping bag by Cocco. Metal artwork on wall by Frank Lloyd Wright. Accessories are Lundby, re-ment, Polly Pocket, beads, self made and ebay finds. Most of the flowers are from Sans.

  1. Hallo, Helene

  2. Wow this looks so good. The backsplash tile is wonderful. That Lundby hang down lamp is just perfect!
Water coloring the table is so clever because it is such a dilemma changing antiques. Love it! CM

  3. Very nice Helene, the kitchen lighting is really great.

I hope you are feeling less stress now!

  4. Thank you Nicola! I never had heard the word "Raffrollo" before, my husband thought I was talking about a sharp guy named Rollo :-) The curtain I made in a hurry today, I use doublesided tape :-) The salad was a present from my mum, bought on a trip to England.

I will have to wait and see about the swap, at least I don't think I will have the energy to make something for a while. It seems this will be a hectic spring with a lot of travelling.

  5. Thanks Carol! If I had given the table to Nora I would have kept the red colour, but Polly Line prefers to keep the red at a minimum :-)

  7. Thank you Norma, so kind of you to ask! These last weeks have been less stressful at work, so I think that's why I got it now, but as you can see I'm on the mend :-)

    Besujis!!!

  10. It's just beautiful, Helene, I love it! So many nice details and touches. Did you make the shade? How do you find the quality of this new Lundby kitchen? Cheers to you, it looks wonderful, and I am glad to "see" you again. It stinks that work has been stressful, so stressful that you couldn't even relax enough to play with your minis :) I hope you are on the upswing!

  11. A beautiful kitchen Helene. Polly is a thoroughly modern woman who KNOW what she WANTS! Love all the details.

It sounds like everybody is having a difficult time, coping with life and what it can deal us.The Happy New Year enthusiasm has tarnished. I hop you too will get your enthusiasm back, but in the meantime you did excellent mini-progress.

  13. Hahahaha!! "my husband thought I was talking about a sharp guy named Rollo :-)" very cool!!! I couldn´t translate it - it´s a ruffled kind of window shade...

We can make the swap later - no problem. I understand if you are to busy :)

  14. So this is what you do when the mind goes blank :). Then it should blank more often, I say :).

I love this kitchen. Polly is really good with her touches.I think the splashes of black with the vintage is brillic! I didn't recognise the flowers but thought how I really love this room because it is so feminine yet modern and romantic with so many flowers. I remembered lent lily and mentioning how you can maybe modify my flowers to make them. So I guess you did or maybe you can tell us where Polly stole the flowers from? lol

This room makes makes me all nostalgic of a time when I was in New York, one cold December morning, sipping coffee in a friend's one room flat decorated with vintage furniture :).

  16. You did a great job putting it all together, and I bet Polly is happy to share the credit! Working with minis/dollhouses can be a great stress buster, we just have to remember that and take the time.

  18. Gorgeous. Your kitchen makes me want to switch scales and start buying Lundby. Many beautiful touches, I love the combination of vintage and modern! Looks fab.

  19. It looks lovely. I like the vintage with modern touches like the laptop. It all works really well. I love the Lundby kitchen units - I am so tempted to buy some new Lundby items myself.

  20. Well there you are. Good to hear from you. Love the new Lundby goodies. Like how they did the lights. Where did the awesome shade come from? I like how that allows you to utilize the window sill. Adore the Frank Lloyd Wright design. Your lamp is way cool also. What a lovely kitchen for Polly. Thanks for inviting me in. Enjoyed it greatly.

Thank you very much Virginia, it's a great compliment you thought the kitchen was real!

  22. Thank you Dale, it's the best compliment I can get that it looks real :-)

  23. Thank you callsmall! I made the shade myself using a little piece of fabric and a lot of doublesided tape :-)

I love my new kitchen and I think it's the nicest Lundby kitchen I've seen so far. I never liked very much the Stockholm kitchen, I thought it was a bit too chunky. And even though I did some photoshopping again to remove the little gap line between the sections, the tiles in the back are actually straight and continues in the right height from one section to the other.

And thank you for your concern, but actually I love my work, I just have had a lot more responsibility this last year, so even though I don't work much extra it has been very intense and with quite a few worries when things go a little bit awry. But very rewarding as well. And I have played a lot with my minis the last weeks, I just haven't been able to write anything about it :-)

  24. Thank you Lize, as I said I have had problems writing lately because of my blank head, but your last post was a ray of sunshine and really lifted my spirit! You are so thoughtful of others and have so beautiful pictures! Infact I saw Little miss Sunshine the other day, so funny you used the bus picture from the movie!

  26. Ha, ha Nicola, I found the meaning myself by using Google image search :-)

  27. Thank you Sans! Yes, I found I could have lot of energy despite having a non-functional and worn out brain :-)

I mixed your flowers with some other yellow ones I had and was very pleaesd with the result:-) Thank you again, my dear! I forgot to say, but the lent lilies was a gift from Cocco, but she bought these and hasn't made them herself.

And is there anywhere on earth you haven't been? :-) Touring Asia, Europe and now New York!

  28. Thank you Meli, you're so kind!

  29. Thank you Florine, yes and I did relax with my minis these weeks, it was just the language center in my brain that stopped working for a while :-)

  31. Thank you Mini Dork, what a great compliment and it would be great to see your approach on Lundby! And you could also buy Lundby furniture and use it in the Emerson house if you buy it :-)

  32. Thank you Pan, I have waited for this kitchen to get to the shops for half a year after seeing it on the blog of the Shopping Sherpa. And I wasn't disappointed, I love it!
    The laptop is by Re-ment.

  33. Yes here I am Amy :-) Thank you for waiting patiently for me and for your nice comments. The shade is made by me, it's quite easy if you have enough doublesided tape :-)

Frank Lloyd Wright is also one of my favourite architects and I was so thrilled when I found this ornament in the arts and crafts museum shop.

  34. I like the kitchen, and the first foto is really excellent. I'm glad to hear you love your work, that makes it easier to live with the stress and all things that come along with more responsibility. I hope the travelling in this spring will bring you good expierience and some fun!

  35. Thank you Oese, the first photo is my favourite too :-)
And the travelling sure will bring much fun, because it's visiting my home area twice for birthdays, one week vacation in Denmark with the children and going to the miniature show in Paris in June with Cocco and our husbands. I'm a lucky girl :-)

  36. Oh wow! I love the lights under the kitchen units, and the notice board in the kitchen and the way the units fit just under the windowsill so sleek! and the white walls against the flooring! I like a lot:-D

I would love to have my salad in this kitchen! well done Polly! its great and the light coming in makes everything so sunny and bright,
glad you posted this, reading this and seeing your pictures this morning have brightened my day ;-)thanks
hope you are having a nice week xx

  37. Your dolls have such stylish kitchens (and other rooms) - they are very lucky to have you to assist them in getting all the pieces colour-coordinated. Mine would just have to make do with whatever came along - so it's very lucky that I have no architects or stylists living in my houses (as far as I know!)
I hope things don't go awry too often at work, and that you can resolve it easily when something does. Enjoy your trips too - I wonder if any of the dolls willask to go too, or go as stowaways? xx

  38. What a great kitchen! So homely.

  39. Thank you Natalie, all your nice comments have brightened my day as well :-) I painted the ceiling and walls before I assembled the house, much easier! The notice board was bought in a scrapbook shop, I just put all the notices on it :-)

And yes, this week has been good so far, so I'm quite relaxed now :-) Hope you'll have a great week too!

  40. Thank you Rebecca, but you know it's like the shoemaker's children, architects seldom has design homes, so I wouldn't be surprised if one of your dolls turned out to be an architect as well :-) Apart from that I think it's nonsense that you don't colour coordinate :-) I have checked and you really do! With your great Bodo Hennig Bodensee house, your German (Vero) bungalow kitchen and your 1960s Göteborg house as fine and stylish examples.

My long term project is now nearly finished, so I don't think it's going to turn up any major new problems now. I haven't had many big problems neither, just a lot of tiny ones, which I'm glad to say are all solved :-)

And I think at least some of my dolls are eager to go to Paris and perhaps Denmark and Legoland as well, but I think they must be part of my hand baggage :-)
