Karl Edo really likes to throw parties, and when he does throw a party nothing is left to chance. Inspired by his new colourful cushions, bought from Rosanna at SIMP in Paris and some vintage furniture he has acquired, he emptied his living room completely (even the kitchen!!) to decorate for a funky retro party.
Stay tuned, more to come in the next post :-)

The Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn wall art are fridge magnets. Vintage Lundby couch, chair, table and lamp. Selfmade sidetables and lamps. Accessories are Lundby and selfmade books, beads and re-ment. The bar is a tilted vintage fisher price sofa (thanks callsmall for the idea) and the chairs are re-ment.

WOW Helene! All I can say is WOW! I Love it! Orange rules! (My kitchen is currently orange and green)...I grew up in the Fab sixties and remember how hip and Mod all those furnishings were! I LOVE the eraser with pins! Just Genius!
Thanks Betsy! :-) You know I have a green kitchen too(limegreen)! This room was fun to do, since it was so far from anything I would do in real life :-) I do love to use colours in my real life house too, but usually colours with much grey in them, not much of that here :-)
Es preciosa la estancia, con un excelente gusto.
Lo moderno me encanta!
Saludos
Wow!! It would be a great party!! :)
As we said back then - Fab! Neat! Groovy! Far out, man! :D
Rosamargarita, me alegra que les guste mi gusto moderno, muchas gracias por tu comentario lindo!
Glenda, you're so narly, smooch-ya-too!
Yeah, Karl Edo's hoping for a slammin party :-)
See ya on the flipside!
Kjempestilig rom! :-D
Great decor Helene!
Love that light fitting, and the Audrey Hepburn painting especially.
It would be nice to empty out a room and re-decorate for parties!
Helene, Rosanna will be so pleased :):). This is just a perfect time to post a pic of Karl's room for me. I now remember that Ro's cushions reminded me of peacock feathers :).
You just loved parties for your dolls don't you? I love to do crowded scenes for my dolls too and realised that that's because I don't like crowds in real life :). hehe, think I may be talking rubbish again :).
I remember groovy, neat and fab but those are pretty recent slang here, like the 80s? LOL! So do I tell you this is some bad assed decor Helene!? WICKED! LOL
Lovely combination of colours - the cushions look fantastic, even the mugs tone in, and I love how it goes from green predominating at one end, through orange in the middle, to red at the other end! Rainbow-like, like the cushions :-) That's a brilliant idea for a side-table - must look out for rubbers myself!
Hope Karl Edo has a totally fab, swinging party! And if anyone is sober enough to take photos, I look forward to seeing them.
Tusen takk Anne Mari, fargemessig er dette langt utenfor det jeg normalt er komfortabel med :-)
Thank you Lize, I except from the floor lamp, I have made all the lamps myslef, both the working ones and the ones without lightbulbs.
I love the Hepburn picture too, she is the perfection of beauty! I found the Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe as fridgemagnets in a "Søstrene Grene" shop, some months ago and have wanted to use them in a setting since then.
For some reason it's so much easier for Karl Edo to empty rooms for parties than it's for me :-)
Me encanta. Muy moderno. Precioso trabajo
Wuddup Sans, glad you dig it! What's hanging, are you chicks having a blast?
Ok, I can't do this anymore, 70's slang is not my force it seems :-)
In real life I think throwing parties is so much work, because the dining room table is usually packed with mess, but in miniature it's great fun :-) And I don't like crowds either:-)
And I have to keep writing on Flickr, they are handstitched, otherwise I'm sure everyone will think the cushions are made of printed fabric!
Thanks Rebecca, you know I hadn't thought about the rainbow colour thing, it just felt right this way :-) Thanks for pointing it out! :-)
And the cushions are fabulous, it's almpost unbelievable they're handstitched!
Photos will come in some days, (we're getting visitors) even though there was a lot more wine than food at the party :-)
Gracias Silvia, me alegro de que te gusta mi estilo moderno!
WOW!! What a fantastic room! I think Karl Edo has the designer gene...
A really wonderful space, Helene, and your handmade items are superb.
Umm, well, huh. I can't decide what I like best. It is all fabulous!!! Very cool idea with the eraser table, I adore the matching lamps flanking the couch, love the use of legos, I agree with all the comments on the artwork- very chic, the lava lamp and rainbow bead and accessories are just too cute, and great job on the working ribbon lamp. Bravo!! What a room!!
Yes yes yes... but what rhymes with orange?????? C
Thank you Florence, I'm not sure what Karl Edo's ancestors did for a living, so I can't tell if it's in his genes or not :-)
Glad you liked my selfmade things, it was fun making them and quite easy too :-)
Thank you Mini Dork :-) You wouldn't believe it when you see these pictures, but I have restrained myself here :-) When I put this room together I first had even more colours in it, like a red legoshelf and yellow lego frames under the cushions, but it just was too much :-)
I was inspired by Minimodernistas fabulous ribbonlamp, but I prefer working lights in my house, so decided to make it myself instead of buying hers.
I didn't buy any materials for it, just used things I found lying around in the house as flatwashers and white index dividers

What a happy, happy room! I love it, totally groovy and fun. My daughter has that same eraser, but in blue, so I might have to steal it from her ;) I love those Re-ment chairs -- what set are they from? The megahouse cafe one? The bar works brilliantly! You must have been in a very happy state doing this! I can't wait for our NYC meet-up, by the way...!
Thanks callsmall, yes it was fun doing this room! It just took longer time than expected because I had to buy white spray paint for the side tables and then wait for the paint to dry :-)
I bought the chairs separetely, but I think they are from a version of the Megahouse cafe set. I have them in white with black seats as well, you can see them in the Eurovision party scene. I have tried to get more of these, but haven't been lucky yet.
I really, really look forward to the NYC meet-up too, (not looking so much forward to about 10 hours on the plane though!) and am eagerly waiting the programme, so I can find out where the openings are :-)
I will mail you as soon as I know more.
This is amazing! orange rules! I love the retro look, Karl is so stylish! groove on :-)
The furniture is great! really like the cushions! Lovely pictures! brill!
This is really nice I can't wait for the continuation! well done xx
Thanks Natalie, Karl was glad to hear how much you liked his room:-) Orange is such a cheerful colour isn't it? But he had to restrict the use of other colours because of it, hence all the white.
And I love the fridge magnet pictures too, until now they've been brightening up my kitchen. And I love Twiggy as well, she looks so sweet now she's getting a little bit older.
Hey- Hurray to summer!
( here we have 40 centegrade ans 70% humidity.....Ha...ha...ha
Love the eraser stool and The Audry Hepborn Bar.
Neomi
Thanks Neomig, you're most welcome to come and have a drink in the bar!
Wow, that's hot! We have had a cooler summer this year, which suits me just fine :-)
This is the most amazing dolls house I have ever seen. I want to live there! It's my dream home.
You're most welcome seventyseventyone! And thank you so much, I have had a brief peek in your blog and really like your sense of style and design!
Thanks Pubdoll. :)
Hi Helene
I'm writing a lead article for Uppercase: a amagazine for the creative and curious and am hoping you'd give us permission to use the fifth picture down in this post in the magazine. Attributed, of course.
