A royal occasion

Yesterday Nora invited all the girls to come watch the royal wedding in the basement livingroom, chosen since it had the most regal colours! What she didn't think of was that the TV in the basement room was old-fashioned and small, and didn't provide the picture quality one finds in TVs nowadays. But no-one seemed to mind.

Almost all were there: Besides Nora, there were Polly Line and her cousin Carol Line, wearing a blouse with a heart in a weapon shield for the occasion. Also Nora and Helmer's respective aunts were invited; Fiolett paa Traadén (Aunt Violet's It Slip) and Dolly Barton. They both loves weddings in general, and royal weddings in particular!
Being a huge lover of festive occasions involving fancy outfits and hats, Karl Edo invited himself to the party as well. Cocco Flanell was there too, but like Karl Edo, she said she was just interested in the outfits.

But I'm not sure that was the case, because when the happy newlyweds kissed on the balcony, a unison aaah, was heard from all of the guests...

All the romance and happiness caused Polly's mind to go drifting. In her mind images appeared where Kate and William's faces were replaced with hers and her Doctor Whatson's. Oh, if only, she thought, but had no hope it would ever happen, that they would ever become more than good friends. Her daydreams were interrupted by Cocco, who, intrigued by all the fabulous masks on the wall, asked Nora if they were souvenirs, like so many other items in the room.

Nora told that they were a precious gift from her good friend Oese in Germany, and so was the large oriental floor vase by the TV. "I was so happy to get the masks" Nora said, "because I could never find the right decoration for that wall, and now ... don't they look just perfect there?"

Credits: The basement livingroom is a mix of vintage Lundby leather furniture, re-ment furniture, a selfmade bookshelf and finds from the last 30 years. Thank you, Oese, for the masks and the other wonderful gifts you gave me last year, and sorry for being so late posting about them! For unknown names and backgrounds, see who's who.

Happy New Year! / Godt Nytt År!

New year's eve at the pub. The owner Bart Ender Barton spends the Holidays in England with his family there and Sean Kommer'u stepped in for him, his salons next door being closed tonight anyway. And since Pater Maximillian never turns down a glass of anything, Sean thought this could be a cheap way to entertain his brother. It's common knowledge that a Catholic priest in a bar is never short of free drinks from middleaged women.

Helmer came over for a beer, but left early to be with his family.

But pater Maximilian feels quite neglected tonight, since the interest of everyone in the bar is directed elsewhere!

I want to wish all of you a Happy New Year filled with miniscule pleasures!
It has been great to get so many new friends to share this hobby with and I'm looking forward to see more of your work in 2010!

The Sixteenth Chapel or Mass Hypnosis

Sean Kommer'u's altar ego and twin brother William, (he has taken Maximillian as his cleric name) has come to visit and to celebrate Christmas mass in the family's private chapel.
Family and friends have met up in full for such a rare occasion, crowding the little church.

The altar boy is Minimillian from France, who is spending Christmas with his uncle Arne at Karl Edo Spook's house.

Pater Maximillian speaks about the birth of Christ: "In the time o Caesar Augustus, the Romans ordered a census tae be cairried oot ower the hale country. This happened when Cyrenius wis the heid man O Syria.." His gentle voice and the dense air of the crowded chapel makes Polly Line drowsy and her mind starts to wander. After reading the gospel, the priest begins his sermon about God's love for us. His Scottish accent is mixed in Polly Line's mind with vague memories from last summer. She dreams of happy children and bonfires, and she smiles secretly and feels the heat in her cheeks.

She wakes up suddenly, when the priest raises his voice: "And yer harts are wide open and yer innermost longings are for Him ter see!"

Credits: The clothes of pater Maximillian and Minimillian are made by Cocco! She gave me pater Maximillian for my 40th birtday and I just had to make him a church :-) The chapel is built in lego by me and my children, the stained glass windows are postcards bought in Paris and the white statue of Virgin Mary with baby is also a souvenir from Paris. The Virgin Mary with baby and angels, behind the altar, is bought in a shop in Bergen. The St. Olaf statue is a souvenir from the Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim. Other accessories are ebay finds or bought in St.Olav booklet, Oslo. Birth of Christ text taken from "A Glasgow Bible" by Jamie Stuart.

Pubdolls - who's who?

ENG: I have promised I would post a summary of who's who of all the characters you regularly can meet in this blog. And here they are, I'm proud to present, Nora and Helmer's family and friends.

Helmer Lund is a good humoured man, satisfied with his life and family. He loves his children, his wife Nora, and his vespa (but not necessarily in that order). I'm not quite sure what he does for a living, he seems to have much time for leisure activities. But then again, he must have a decent income to pay for all the new furniture and accessories Nora keeps buying.

Nora Lund is a dedicated arts and crafts teacher in secondary school, and also have her own sewing room. She's more enterprising than her husband and loves (re-)decorating their home in a nice mixture of new and old. Her best friends are Polly Line and her sister-in-law Carol Line.

Tomy Lund is the son of Nora and Helmer. He likes to play football, play with his cars, especially those from the movie Cars, and lego, read comics and draw.

Tomy Lund

Annika Lund is the daughter of Nora and Helmer. She's like most girls and loves to draw, play with her dolls and her doll's house and listen to music by her current idols. And she never can get enough stuffed animals, or so it seems.

Sean Kommer'u (Sean R. U. Coming) is a former agent, who in his agent days had a preference for fast cars and beautiful women (or vice versa). He has now calmed down and is running the local pub and assembly rooms with his wife Glenn Glosenough.

Glenn Closenough is running the towns assembly rooms with her husband and is the mother of Nora. But in her younger days she used to be a variety artist in France under the name de Ville, together with Arne Vaa's mother Jannemor Vaa. They even had their own show - Vaa de Ville! But soon she was off to Hollywood and became a world famous moviestar!

Tante Fiolett paa Traadén (Aunt Violets it Slip) is the younger sister of Glenn Closenough and the aunt of Nora. She is married to Knut E. paa Traaden, but they are separated (again!) She loves purple, lilac and violet colours.

Dolly Barton is the aunt of Helmer and Henrik. And even though she has been sent to Stavanger for rehabilitation, she still spends far too much time in the local pub.

Henrik Lund is the identical twin brother of Helmer. He is an author and is married to Carol Line, they have seven children. (My daughter's family)

Carol Line is Henrik's wife. She loves shopping in second-hand stores, no wonder with seven children! She also loves having a cup of tea with her sister-in-law Nora.
.

.
Polly Line is Carol Line's cousin. She's an architect and the one who designed the extension to Nora and Helmer's house. She has a younger brother Jon Line, who at the moment is studying IT in another town.

Arne Vaa is a good friend of Polly Line, and like her he's an architect and has designed Spook House and the facade of the pub and has been in charge of restoring the facade of the original part of the building. He was raised in Paris by his mother Jannemor Vaa. He moved to Norway as a teenager but still spends much time in Paris. Vaa is a well known Telemark family name.

Cocco Flanell is a designer living in Paris. Through her work she has become a friend of Arne Vaa and Karl Edo Spook. She's also a close friend of Action Man who lives at Montmartre. She has designed the logo for Spook House and the moon lamps.

Karl Edo Spook is the owner of Spook House, a shop for modern design, but has a preference for retro. He's Arne Vaa's partner and also a good friend of Polly Line and Cocco Flanell.

The tall handsome stranger has showed up to a couple of the festive occasions I have taken photos from, but I'm not exactly sure who he is. Rumours have it that he's from another scale. Update: He is now known as Dr Whatson, because he always turns up when something's going on.

Midsummer

ENG: Tonight Nora and Helmer spend midsummer's eve with their family and friends. And although this years bonfire was kept small as a precaution after weeks of dry weather, they all enjoyed watching it being lit.

ENG:
Who's that man with an eye for Polly Line?

NOR:

ENG: The 17th of May is the National Day of Norway. It has for over hundred years been celebrated with parades of school children, their teachers and marching bands.
So today the children in me and my daughter's doll's houses have celebrated the day by marching the little "street" I have so far. And the whole town have been watching, cheering and waving flags! As a teacher Nora also participated in the parade.
On the pavement you can see Carol Line with her husband Henrik, Henrik is the identical twin brother of Helmer. Also present are Glenn Closenough with husband Sean Kommer'u, and Dolly Barton, aunt of Henrik and Helmer. Polly Line is apparently more interested in the tall, handsome stranger. Karl Edo Spook, Arne Vaa and aunt Fiolett paa Traadén ( aunt Violets it Slip) must have been too tired to come after last nights party, since they are nowhere to be seen!

On this day people are often dressed in their national costumes; called a "Bunad", but sadly none of my dolls owns one. The only dolls in national costumes attending were the greek pair to the right.

ENG:
Afterwards the Lund family had coffee and almond "tower cake" in the garden.

Here is a photo from todays lifesize parade, with our school marching to town to join the other schools for the main parade.
