All by myself

It has been a great year for Karl Edo. But with the success of Spook House, he found his shop too small to meet the increasing demand -- and he wasn't very happy with the location either. Not that he didn't like his neighbours in the building, like Osvald Halving in Gjengangere, Bart Ender Barton in the pub and Glenn Closenough and Sean Kommer'u in the adjacent assembly rooms. But the style of all of these businesses are a bit old fashioned if truth be told, and Karl Edo had for some time thought about building a real Spook House, and when it was opened to build on a ground nearby he went for it. His friend Arne Vaa wasn't hard to ask and designed a new Spook House for him in a jiffy.

After a busy spring, here is a proud Karl Edo in front of the newly finished building. And instead of a party, he's inviting you in to celebrate the opening with an Asian themed display, with some of his favourite design furniture, all in the Spook House signature colours red and white.

Credits: In this last year, I have received so many wonderful gifts from blog friends all around the world. I haven't had the time to blog about them so far, because of a very hectic spring at work, but I thank you all and have gathered some of the fabulous gifts in this post, and more will come in the fall. Tomorrow we're going to the UK on holiday and we will be away until the end of this month.

Arne Jacobsen seven chairs from Minimii. Super ellipse table is a selfmade gift from Cocco.

Shelving made of lego. I was inspired to make this after seeing this fabulous desk Carol (Pepper) at MitchyMooMiniatures made for me after I was so lucky to win her give-away! The drawers even open! Thank you so much, Pepper's husband (Salt?), for the draw!

The doll in kimono is a gift from Cocco. The lamp is an altered Re-ment lamp. The laptop is also by Re-ment. Seven chair from Minimii. Tiny Hello Kitty in a Japanese costume is a cell phone ornament. Selfmade George Nelson ball clock.

On the counter is another Hello Kitty ornament.
Inside there's a Re-ment plate and some moon lamps designed by Cocco.

Heart chair by Reac, a gift from Sans, I love it, thank you so much! The Piero Fornasetti plates on the wall are made using a photo from the Collectors magazine, a give-away I won from the fabulous Shopping Sherpa who was interviewed in the magazine and featured in the TV show as well! Sadly I didn't manage to make them as neat as she did hers. Shelf by Re-ment. Vases by Elisabeth Causeret and Re-ment. If anyone knows the artist who made the painting I would be grateful, I just found it on the Net. The facade of Spook House is (of course) made of lego.

I wish you all a very nice summer!

Total Ellipse or Easter in Spook House

If any of you are wondering what I'm up to these days, I'm in the prosess of tidying up my entire house! It really had to be done, after years of neglect, the clutter had piled up everywhere! But getting a new dollshouse room (which still isn't quite finished, but the last pieces of furniture for it are being assembled as we speak -- that's my husband you can hear swearing in the background) with a new wall-fitted bookshelf, inspired me to reorganize all my books and go through all the stuff in shelves, boxes and drawers and get rid of as much as possible. Usually I'm better at organizing clutter than actually getting rid of it, but now I have really enjoyed doing it, to the extent that I have scarcely been on the net this last month, because I just couldn't stop tidying!

But even though I haven't spent much time on blogging lately, Karl Edo has been busy and would like you to invite you all to the Spook House Easter exhibition. Can you tell he's been inspired by the Easter eggs?... And he's also very proud of his newest addition, the super-elliptical table by Piet Hein/Arne Jacobsen/Bruno Mathsson.

A close up of the new Lundby shelf with lights.

The colours are mainly in the range from blue to yellow, which I thought was appropriate since we're going to Stockholm, Sweden early tomorrow, (check the flag) and we will spend the entire Easter Holiday there. Yeah!

Happy Easter everyone!

Credits: The fantastic super-elliptical table is a selfmade gift from Cocco who never fails to amaze me with her talents and generosity! The other furniture is Arne Jacobsen chairs from Minimii, shelf with lights from Lundby (came with a bed) and counter from re-ment.The wallpaper is scaled down scrapbook paper. Accessories are mainly re-ment, Easter decorations and Bodo Hennig.

Les Créations Cocco

ENG: I want to start this new year with a presentation of my dear friend Cocco. For many of you who follow my blog Cocco is a wellknown name, at least if you read the credits after each post. Cocco has designed the logos for Spook House and Gjengangere, she has made the moon lamps and shopping bags in Spook House, the little seven chair and much more tiny things like a Christmas marzipan pig and a lego box. I got the big lego box for Christmas from hubby's brother!

ENG: But what you don't know is that I probably wouldn't have had a blog without her! It's not even certain I would have had this hobby without her, because when we met, I hadn't done anything with my childhood dollhouse for years, not since I was 11 years old . It was just used as a display for furniture and accessories that had survived my childhood. But as soon as we became friends she came with suggestions like improving the art on the walls, doing something with the ugly sofa (I then coloured it with green fabric dye) and getting some dolls who could sit. My childhood dolls were the ones who are now known as Martha and Osvald Halving. She made new clothes for them and even though I wasn't much interested in dolls I did buy some new ones, now known as Karl Edo Spook and Cocco Flanell. Later I got more dolls to fill my reception room, and sent a bunch of them to Cocco for a makeover and to my surprise they came back as real little people with different personalities! And as you know, it wouldn't have been much of a blog without them! Below are the men she has dressed up:

ENG: From the left above is pater Maximillian, his twin brother Sean Kommer'u, Helmer with his new knitted sweater and Arne Vaa. Pater Maximilllian was a gift for my 40th birthday and he was the reason I had to build a church! He came with three layers of clothes as displayed below.

ENG:
Last year he was joined by the altar boy Minimillian.

ENG: She also made new trousers and a leather jacket for Helmer last year:
NOR: Hun lagde også nye bukser og skinnjakke til Helmer i fjor:

ENG: And here are the women after their makeovers.
NOR: Og her er damene etter sine makeovere:

ENG: From the left above is Dolly Barton, (who also was on rehab at Cocco, because she was in a really bad shape when she came to me), Nora with her new bunad, (see also the picture on top) her mother Glenn Closeenough with her new knitted jacket (In who's who you can see her with just her dress and a matching bolero), Polly Line in her new skirt and knitted sweater (the skirt was really meant for Glenn, but Polly Line liked it too and has borrowed it), and Cocco Flanell.

NOR:

ENG: She has also made several beautiful purses for the women, and some of them can even be opened! (The ruler is in centimeters!)

ENG: Cocco is also decorating the home of an retired 1:6th scale soldier known as Action Man, who lives on Montmartre in Paris and is a good friend of Cocco Flanell. Here you can see them both in his living room admiring his new Eames chair. Cocco made both the sofa and the table herself.

ENG: More photos from Action Man's home: She made the mirror, the bed and the bedspread in the bedroom and also the kitchen cupboards and the kitchen lamp. None of the rooms are quite finished yet. The chair in the bedroom is a Vitra Mackintosh chair.

There's Santa, but where's grandpa?

It's Christmas eve, the long and heavy dinner is consumed and now they are having coffee with homemade cookies and cakes and are about to open the Christmas presents under the tree. As always, Glenn Closeenough and Sean Kommer'u, (Sean R.U. Coming) are spending Christmas with their daughter Nora and her family. Suddenly, just as grandpa Sean has gone upstairs for his afternoon nap, there's Santa, with a large bag loaded with gifts for Tomy and Annika!

Grandma Glenn and Helmer are watching.

Credits: Nora's bunad and Glenn Closeenough's clothes are made by Cocco!
The bunad was her Christmas present for me, am I lucky or what?
The Santa costume is from Lundby.

19th December

Today I got these presents to put under Nora and Helmer's Christmas tree and a Santa Claus hat. I think it looked nice on Annika, and Tomy wanted to join her for the photo, to show you the knitted sweater and hat that Cocco made for him last year.

Seven heaven

ENG: Karl Edo loves his furniture and feels sad everytime a piece is taken away from him.
So the new seven miniature chair on the counter is not for sale!

Credits: The Arne Jacobsen seven chair is made by Cocco! Most of the furniture is credited before, as the Lundby chairs, the lego shelves and the re-ment counter and lamp. The white chairs are by Barton, the white tabletop is a broken re-ment table top on a knob. Accessories are by re-ment and Cocco and bead vases.

Black as night, black as coal

ENG: Nora returned from Stavanger with several gifts for Helmer, among them a black leather jacket and a t-shirt with a Vespa print. Helmer usually doesn't care much about clothes, and didn't say much this time either, but shortly after he went out to take this vespa for a ride, as pleased as Punch in his new outfit.

Credits: All of Helmer's clothes are designed and made by Cocco!
The helmet is from a vintage Lego figure.

Photographically challenged

I received a photo challenge from Lena aka Miniatyrmama.
I'm supposed to

1. open the 4th file where you store your photos...
2. pick out the 4th photo & publish it to your blog...
3. explain a bit about it...
4. pass this challenge to 4 other blogs...

I'm usually not very much into these blog games, but since I am busy redecorating a real life room, and therefore have little time for minatures at the moment, I thought this was a nice excuse for posting something old instead. The fourth picture in my fourth folder was this picture of Tomy and Annika's room before Nora painted the walls lime green. If you look closely, you can see a little box of lego in the round shelf. It was a christmas gift for Tomy and Annika from Cocco.

Since so many of my blog friends have already been challenged with this, I pass it on to all who would like to have an excuse for posting old photos!
Credits: Furniture: Lundby desk and chair, re-ment shelves, minature chair and lamp, lap-top and tiny bus are also re-ment. Other accessories are mini toys collected over the years.

Spook House Autumn collection

ENG: Great to be home again! All the dolls have behaved well too!
Karl Edo, having been busy in his shop, was eager to show me the new Spook House Autumn collection. He was as proud as a five-year-old who has just lost his first front tooth that he had managed to get hold of one of Anninas rare sofas! Eames elephants in plywood were also among his new acquisitions. Hmm, apparently steel and natural colours is the thing this autumn.

Credits: Charles Eames Elephant by Reac, sofa by Annina, Lego windowframe-shelves, tables are building blocks, the lamp is made out of a bead and a Lundby lampshade, the vase on the table is also a bead. The metal stools and side table are door knobs. George Nelson ball clock by me, hanging moon-lamp by Cocco, other furniture and accessories are mainly Re-ment.
