A royal occasion

Yesterday Nora invited all the girls to come watch the royal wedding in the basement livingroom, chosen since it had the most regal colours! What she didn't think of was that the TV in the basement room was old-fashioned and small, and didn't provide the picture quality one finds in TVs nowadays. But no-one seemed to mind.

Almost all were there: Besides Nora, there were Polly Line and her cousin Carol Line, wearing a blouse with a heart in a weapon shield for the occasion. Also Nora and Helmer's respective aunts were invited; Fiolett paa Traadén (Aunt Violet's It Slip) and Dolly Barton. They both loves weddings in general, and royal weddings in particular!
Being a huge lover of festive occasions involving fancy outfits and hats, Karl Edo invited himself to the party as well. Cocco Flanell was there too, but like Karl Edo, she said she was just interested in the outfits.

But I'm not sure that was the case, because when the happy newlyweds kissed on the balcony, a unison aaah, was heard from all of the guests...

All the romance and happiness caused Polly's mind to go drifting. In her mind images appeared where Kate and William's faces were replaced with hers and her Doctor Whatson's. Oh, if only, she thought, but had no hope it would ever happen, that they would ever become more than good friends. Her daydreams were interrupted by Cocco, who, intrigued by all the fabulous masks on the wall, asked Nora if they were souvenirs, like so many other items in the room.

Nora told that they were a precious gift from her good friend Oese in Germany, and so was the large oriental floor vase by the TV. "I was so happy to get the masks" Nora said, "because I could never find the right decoration for that wall, and now ... don't they look just perfect there?"

Credits: The basement livingroom is a mix of vintage Lundby leather furniture, re-ment furniture, a selfmade bookshelf and finds from the last 30 years. Thank you, Oese, for the masks and the other wonderful gifts you gave me last year, and sorry for being so late posting about them! For unknown names and backgrounds, see who's who.

Puff daddy

ENG: Yesterday I came home late from work and brought in the mail even later and found a parcel from Susan in Singapore aka Sans. Inside there were several wonderful gifts for Nora and Helmer!
The first two pics show just the gifts and the following emporial card. The fabulous hookah is Sans' own design and you can read more about them here and here. She knew I love elephants too, and gave me these beautiful elephants made into candleholders by her.
According to Sans, one of her Palace girls has a crush on Helmer and has made him the tiny Vespa in the background! Naturally Helmer was flattered and he absolutely loved the Vespa! Thank you so much Sans! Helmer sends his thanks too!

ENG: Apparently Helmer really loved the hookah too, he has been puffing the whole evening until the surroundings got blurry.

NOR: Helmer likte visst vannpipa også, han har pattet og blåst hele kvelden til omgivelsene begynte å bli tåkete.

Back to basics

ENG: Here is the basement livingroom of Nora and Helmer. Most of the souvenirs from their many travels ends up here. This week a new wooden floor has been laid in the room and they are quite happy with it! Spook House also sells the same type of sofas and chairs they had from before, so Nora has been there and bought herself a new sofa.

ENG: The whole livingroom.
NOR: Hele kjellerstua.

Credits: TV, Sofas and chair vintage Lundby. The bookshelf, sidetable with turquoise lamp is made by me. Fireplace painted by me. Blue art nouveau lamp by Cocco. Round sidetable and shelf on the right side of the room by Re-ment. Art by Fredrik Stabel, Gustav Klimt and Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres. The "metall" art is scrapbook paper. Books by TreeFeathers. Accessories are ebay finds, re-ment, beads and souvenirs from travels.

Welcome and cheers!

Helmer and I will also welcome Grace to this blog! (How did you know where to find us?)
I love both her blog and her wonderful miniature books!
Almost all the books in this selfmade shelf are hers and I have also another shelf with the even smaller books she makes!
She is also nice, I'm still very grateful for the Pippi Langstrømpe book (with the frontpage in Norwegian!) she sent me as an extra.
