15 minutes of fame

Ever since Karl Edo got a telephone from a reporter from the journal Moustique who wanted to interview him about Spook House, he's gone around himself in circles. She told him that she would bring a photographer and visit both his home and his shop for the interview, and now he has to make sure that both places are presented in the best way possible. Luckily there isn't much to do about Spook House after he refurnished the exhibition room with the new furniture from Minimii, but his livingroom wasn't even close to its normal perfection after his summer party.

But hard work pays. This is his livingroom just before the journalist and the photographer are expected to arrive.

In the last minute he decides to add a newly arrived red swan chair from Minimii.

Eager to propagate the image of the good host, he has bought some luxurious chocolate to serve them, colour coordinated of course.

Then they arrive. The journalist is Secco Line (Trine Line). Karl Edo hadn't met her before, but Polly Line had mentioned her to him, since she's a cousin of hers. Polly Line had only nice things to say about her, which helps ease his nerves. They shake hands and he offers her some chocolate before they are seated for the interview. Karl Edo, who's usually the rather silent type, becomes much more eager and talkative when he can talk about his favourite subject - modern design - with a good listener. Meanwhile the photographer is upstairs taking photos of the bedroom and terrace.

An hour flies away and the photographer comes downstairs to take photographs of the livingroom. He even moves the furniture around to tidy up his photos. Karl Edo says nothing, but can't help thinking about the tidying up he has to do afterwards. But he's still very happy with it all and can't wait to see the finished article.

Credits: This story is loosely based on real life events, I will tell you more later if or when there is more to tell. For more information on the character Secco Line (Trine Line), read Spirou et Fantasio (Sprint) :-)
The leather furniture is vintage Lundby, the diningroom chairs are re-ment, the diningtable is repainted vintage Barton, and the coffeetable is made by me. The shelves are made of Lego windowframes. Lamps are vintage Lundby and made by me, inspired by Minimodernista's lamp. Accessories are books from Lundby, TreeFeathers and Oese, re-ment and mini finds from all over Europe.

Thanks Rosanna, but I cheat! I often remove some flaws and unwanted wires from my photos. And like me, you'll have to wait :-)

WOW Helene! The rooms look stunning! You have us all on tenterhooks to find out what is up! I am sure it will be great! You have done a fantastic job with all the details.... it just looks like I could walk right in! Wish I could! LOL!

Helene dear :), I was just going to reply to your email when I saw this post.

Karl Edo's house is always so refreshing because you change things around. I think your modern house, despite the Lego elements are very realistic, as Rosanna says.

Anyway, Karl darling, those chocolates are fabulous and I totally approve of how the colours all co-ordinated although people insist that's not "in" anymore. What do they know? But dearie, are you sure you want the swan chair here? Perhaps there? or there? Hmmm, what do you think? Oooh I so love making decor decisions :). Pass me the wine , will you?

ha,ha! I can't wait to hear more (although I know a bit already!). I think Karl cleaned up very nicely indeed, and the reporter should have been quite pleased! The Minimii chairs are to die for! I tried ordering them online, but kept getting error messages. :(

what a great story! and how nice and tidy the room is, I like this way to live. I have allways so much stuff like books, mobile, hats, toys and bags laying and standing around (in my scenes and 1:1)- it's good to look at this calm athmospere.
was you been interviewed? you'd deserve it!

Oese (knowing her own passord very well :-(

Thanks Betsy, I wish you could too, Karl Edo would be so pleased to meet you :-)As for the tenterhooks, there was really an interview, but I don't know if or when it will be published :-)

Darling Sans, do you want white or red wine? As I'm sure you've seen I have a lot to choose from :-)

And you should know me better by now, to suggest I haven't tried out every possible placement of the swan chair before it found it's perfect place :-)

Hi callsmall, I know that you know :-) have you received my mails? You know when Karl Edo heard that the reporter was coming he ordered 4 more Minimii swan chairs, just to be sure :-)

I really love the design and their quality, and I had no problem ordering them either, and they arrived within 5 working days as promised.
As long as Brincadada still just ships to the US, I have to support European minis instead.

Thanks Oese, so nice of you to say so! And my 1:1 place isn't anywhere close to being as tidy as this :-)
I often prefer a bit of clutter in the photos to make it look more real and lived in, but Karl Edo was very eager to display a perfect image to the magazine :-)

Wow! I love your room sets.

Thanks Pan, my own taste is more like Polly Line's. Karl Edo's a bit too glam for me :-)

I always have so much fun reading your blog. Of course I love your dolls too. Exciting... Want to ask you if you can explain to me how you wall papered the swimming pool Lundby stockholm house. What I did was got a piece of wall paper and cut it to size (close but not perfect) and just layed it into my house. Did you glue yours in? My stockholm has light green downstairs. Did yours come with this yellow color or did you ammend it? You are so talented with this stuff. Keep having fun. Me too. Hugs, Amy

Pubdoll said...

Thanks Amy, and yes, I have had a lot of fun with this house!
I don't know what the swimmingpool in your Stockholm looked like when you got it, but I haven't done anything with the pool nor with the green walls :-) They just came out looking very yellow on the photos!
But I have repainted the first floor to get rid of the polkadots and then used doublesided tape to put up the wallpaper on the back wall (It was meant to be temporarily, but both Karl Edo and I loved it too much to take it down again :-))
I had a look at your first floor and it seems to me you did a great job wallpapering it considering there was no glue involved!

Oh, I can just imagine Karl Edo's (and his assistant's) nerves! especially having to clean up after a party before a magazine photo shoot!! I'm glad he was able to relax as he talked about his passion - and again, I can clearly imagine him getting fidgetty seeing the photographer moving things!
I am sure that Secco Line's editor will think this article is an absolute winner, especially if the photographer's pictures are as good as yours :-)
When is Moustique published? I must ask my newsagent if they stock it ;-)

(ps I hope nobody dropped chocolate in the new swan chairs!)

(I see I've used a lot of exclamation marks - such an exciting and nervewracking topic!)

Pubdoll said...

Thank you Rebecca, Karl Edo really appreciates your concern for him and the interview. But he was quite happy with it. Too bad it's the Norwegian version of the magazine, so it will all be written in Norwegian and will only be published here, but I have promised him to buy a lot of copies when it's published, sometime next year Secco Line told him. He has had a read-through of the first version of the article and was quite happy with it, just had to correct some minor mistakes, and he wasn't quite sure what she meant by writing that he was a fictitious character!

And no chocolate stains in the swan chairs :-)
