From gaudy polka to mellow walls

ENG: It's been a few weeks since my last post due to busy workdays. Meanwhile Karl Edo has been busy too in his studio/bedroom. Karl Edo is tired of colourful dots and being no leopard, he's changing his spots, from shimmering bright to neutral and white.
He's also finally painting the bedroom furniture he bought last summer, and now it's light turquoise instead of yellowed white. I didn't want to disturb him while he's working, so the photos are taken through the windows.
Underneath you can see what the room and furniture looked liked before the makeover.

So, did you actually paint, dear Helene?! Bold move! Or, I guess bold move by Karl! I do like the neutralness of it all, and the furniture looks great. How do you feel about the change??

Personally, I prefer the new white/cream look. But are polka dots more Karl though? :) I also imagine he is very much a leopard skin lover. Does he like Gianni Versace? :)

Why is it that I think this is the end of the painting?

I mean "not" the end of the painting!

Thanks callsmall, it is actually painted, Karl Edo and I have been pondering to do it almost since the house was bought :-) Although Karl Edo liked the dots, he thought they were restricting his interior decorating possibilities too much, and he had run out of ideas for the room that went well with the dots. He also has some plans for the room that includes a wallpaper that needs a neutral wall next to it. But he almost regretted the makeover when he saw your butterflies :-)

Thanks Sans I'm glad you liked it! And you're spot on about the painting :-) But no more painting by Karl Edo I think, because he's very content with the other colours and walls in his house, but then again he's starting to get tired of the large red dots in his shop...

I believe the polka dots were a bit too childish and cute for Karl Edo, he does many styles, but he doesn't do cute :-) But I think perhaps he could like small doses of leopard skin and Gianni Versace in the right setting :-)

Fab! Just fab... Manly yes, but I like it too. Love the man colors.

I love this pale turquoise colour! It is so like the colour in my VERO bungalow (the Praegers' home). As always, Karl Edo has excellent taste! I look forward to seeing how he decorates the room now :-)
And wow, a tiny paint brush! I do hope Karl Edo put a drop sheet down to protect the carpet?

Thank you Amy, I'm glad you liked Karl Edo's little makeover :-)

Thank you Rebecca! I'm so happy you liked the colour of the furniture, I kind of hoped you would :-) I checked out the VERO house and they do look almost identically, but I just mixed the colour from three boxes of left-over paint. I thought it suited the 50's style of the furniture.

Karl Edo has already tried out a new bedroom setting, but now he has to wait and watch the paint dry before putting it up again, but he's looking forward to show it to you as well :-)

The little brush I found rummaging around in Cocco's box of kinderegg minis :-) And Karl Edo had some protection on the floor while painting, I think he just forgot to put it back for the last finishing details.

Wow what a transformation! It suits Karl! CM

Pubdoll said...

Thanks CM, yes Karl Edo is very pleased with the result so far, but more transformations to come :-)
He was afraid some of you would think it was very unpious of him to paint the walls in the Stockholm house, but the room is much more versatile now.

What a nice clean new look! :)

Thanks Dale, but alas less clean look to come :-)

Bold move! Karl Edo;-)
I love it, neutral colours....just what you need to get the creative juices going, love it, can't wait to see how you decorate it!

Pubdoll said...

Thank you Natalie, yes Karl Edo felt rather bold when he painted the walls, no going back there :-)
But like you say, neutral walls are much more inspiring!

Absolutt en forbedring synes jeg. Fargen på møblene er nydelig!!!

Pubdoll said...

Tusen takk Synnøve, jeg ble ganske fornøyd med fargen selv :-)

i like the new painted furniture too and my oppinion about the dots on the wall is the same as Edos. I like them, but...
I'm sure you will make a very manish room with this furniture and I look forward to seeing it.

A very sophisticated look to the room now, quite a radical change!

Pubdoll said...

Thank you Oese, I'm glad you liked it! We will have to wait and see how manly the room gets when Karl Edo's finished decorating it:-)

Pubdoll said...

Thank you so much Norma, and great to have you back!

Petra said...

okay, now I see:
mannish is another thing than manly.
now I'm curious if the new room is more mannish or manly, haha!

Pubdoll said...

Ha, ha, Oese, I don't know what of the two it will be the most, when it's finished you must tell me what you think :-)
