Back in business and ready to party!

Yeah! Finally my computer is fixed and I also have some time to blog again. This last month has been very busy, travelling twice to my hometown to celebrate birthdays and the national day with my family. In the spring the garden needs much work as well and we have painted the exterior of our house, so not much time left to spend at the computer.. I will thank you all who have sent me nice messages and comments in my absence, I so appreciate it!

And what better way to celebrate the "comeback" than with a party?
After Alexander Rybak's big win last year, this year's Eurovision Song Contest is held here in Norway, so Karl Edo just had to throw another Eurovision party this year. He has prepared the room all week, he has even put up special wallpapers for the occasion! He was a bit low when the Lithuanian boys didn't get to to the final, but he taped their performance and is playing it over and over again while waiting for the guests to arrive.

The Euro bar with French champagne, Spanish wine and German beer.

Sushi, finger food and snacks for the guests.

And now the guests have arrived. Nora, Helmer, Polly Line, Dolly Barton and Fiolett paa Traaden are of course invited, and on Nora's request, the newcomer in town, Jean Marie du Bedauré, as well. Jean Marie hasn't forgotten Polly Line from the carnival and has taken the seat next to her, hoping to get some time with her. But since he's not really very into the song contest and talks about everything but the show, he's not able to catch Polly Line's interest, so he turns to Nora instead.

They are all cheering for Didrik's "my hard is yours"

The Serbian singer makes even Karl Edo raise his eyebrows.

The Belarus butterflies are a big success. Great outfits always trumphs great songs.

Karl Edo is strangely disappointed over this year's Greek contribution, it seems even Mediterranean gigolosity can be taken too far.

The Icelandic song got the party swinging, but the Ukrainian song wasn't exactly made for dancing. Great song though! But Jessy the Matador from France got them all back on their feet again.

The Rumenian song was also popular, especially since the male singer lives in Norway.

The rugged Russian made all the girl swoon, Helmer enjoyed the song, but would have preferred it in Russian.

Lena and Germany's song was this year's favourite of most of the party, Arne Vaa prefers tuxedos, ballads and Didrik. But the Israeli singer fits the aquirements as well.

And now the result is ready and they picked the winner!
Congratulations Germany, Lena, Oese and Nicola!

Credits: Marshmallow sofa by Reac, bar chairs by re-ment. The bar is a Fisher Price sofa (thanks to callsmall for the idea), decorated with glitter foam, the table is from Lundby, also decorated with glitter foam. The wallpapers are also glitter foam and a placemat. The cubes are altered place card holders. The floor vases are by Jonathan Adler for Barbie. The food is by re-ment and real popcorn.

Great to have you back Helene - we've missed you.

That looks like a great Eurovision party, I watched about 10 minutes of it lastnight and to fortify me to watch any more I would have needed a LOT of alcohol ;)

Ha, ha, Norma, you know people have travelled from Australia to Norway just to be in the audience? I don't know how much they had to drink :-)

But thanks, I've missed you all too!

Thanks Carol! Perhaps next year both your and my dolls will party in Germany? :-) I have enjoyed checking out your blog this last month, but never have had time to leave comments.

I did see the Flickr blog, had to check out why I sudddenly had over 1700 visits in one day :-) But thanks for reminding me, I have now added the link on the "Pubdolls on other blogs" section to the right.

Thank you Nicola! So good to be back, but blogging really does take a lot of time, at least this post has :-)

And congrats again for the great win, I (and my family) really routed for Germany this year, especially since I thought the Norwegian song was quite boring.

A *big* hello! Missed, you, Helene! Love this wonderful, glittery scene! The bar looks great and swinging. I especially love the green glitter. So glad you're back!!

rosanna said...

Helene, how nice to see you back. Your post is brilliant ans your setting is wonderful.Thank you for both Rosanna

Pubdoll said...

Thanks callsmall! Since it was an Eurovision Song Contest party, Karl Edo wanted the room to be really glam :-) The glitter foam was infact my main inspiration for the room, when I found it I just knew Karl Edo had to throw a party :-)

Pubdoll said...

Thank you Rosanna! When you say brilliant, I guess you're referring to the sparkly wall and bar...
By the way, Karl Edo misses the Italian contributions to the Eurovision song contest:-)
And I'm so looking forward to SIMP and to meet you there!

Welcome back!!! You have been missed. The party is quite the celebration! I LOVE the glitter! Cheers!

Pubdoll said...

Thanks Mini Dork! With all these nice comments it's great to be back!
I have enjoyed reading about your visit to Carol!
The glam factor was Karl Edo's attempt to compete with the TV-show, but even with that wall I believe he lost :-)

hi helene,
great party! not only karl edo was a wonderful host, the norwegian show of esc was great. yes, we've heard this so often yesterday night, but it's true and after years this contest was the first with more niveau (can I say so in english too).
what a pity that I was so tired from the fair. It was so hot in the tent where all the modern miniatures was shown by the artists and shop-owners. And there were so less opportunities to sit down. in the evening I put my treasures together to a scene and fall down on my sofa. after lenas song I went to bed, but when she won, I made a strong coffee and enjoyed the aftershow-party in the tv and your wonderful post. I love the changing fotos on the tv - that's our pubdoll!
I learned to use my touchpad with the left hand, but at work it's not possible to use the pc-mouse with my left hand, so I stay home for three days next week and hope, that it will be okay then.
I agree to all the speakers before: welcome back and stay tuned!

How lovely to see you back, Helene - and back with a bang, as well! What a great setting for watching the contest - and great outfits they're wearing! I hope not too much food and drink got spilled on that lovely white carpet.
It sounds like you have had a very busy time - enjoyable, with the celebrations, I hope - and hard work as well - sometimes our real houses do need work too!

O Helene, I am so late for the party!!! Hope there are drinks left. I had my own dress rehearsal ;p & boy I had to wait 5 hours for my turn at make up !!

Came home and dead beat , my eyes hardly open now. Did manage to catch the news about how Germany won the Eurovision this year after 30 years?? Apparently the Germans were starting to wonder why people nobody liked them..lol

Karl Edo's room is just fab!! I think I have some gifts which will be perfect for him.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...z..z

Welcome back! Yes, you have been missed!

I love how this room looks, it does evoke the feeling of a party, especially with all of the sparkle on the wall and below the bar, love that shade of green. :)

Petra said...

Oh Sans, is that true nobody liked the Germans? I had no idea...

Sans! said...

No, no, no Oese :):). It is very clear from the Eurovision results that everyone loves you :):).

It was just that in the Singapore news, they commented that this is Germany's 1st win in Eurovision after 55 years :):) (did I say 30?) . The newscaster said that this year's winner has no training in singing and was a school dancer and yet she had beaten even the professionals . Apparently, in the last 55 years , even very very good singers from Germany ranked very low in Eurovision (we don't have it here so I would not know) and the news commentator was interviewing some Germans about how they felt and some of them said they did not understand why in the past, nobody liked them ..lol. Well, they are finally vindicated by Lena!!! Yay ! Her song is quite funny too. It is about some light blue underwear?

Petra said...

hi sans, a german saying is: paper is patient. means you can write ev erything....
our last winner was a young girl too. in 1982. 2 years ago;-)

Petra said...

28 years.... writing with my left hand...

Sans! said...

Hehehe, Oese, papier ist geduldig?! I just googled that :):). What a great saying!

I guess "almost 30 years" is accurate enough. In Wikipaedia, they listed all past winners and Nicole from West Germany won in 1982. Good of you to clarify! :) I blame myself I must have been really sleepy. A thousand apologies!

To tell you the truth, the only Eurovision winners I know is Abba. lol. Usually they do not report Eurovision winners on local news here but your representative is making big waves ! She is really cute too! You guys must be sooo proud of her.

Thank you Rebecca, and so nice of you to notice their outfits, I had great fun putting their outfits together during the last semifinal. Many of their tops are from Polly Pocket dolls. The carpet survived this party, but has a coffee stain from a previous one :-)

Yes, visiting my family and home town was great fun, Trond and I even got almost a whole day to ourselves. I even had time to finish The Shield Ring book! :-) I thought I knew English rather well, but in that book there were plenty words I hadn't seen before or with an other meaning than I'm used to, so I've used several months to get through it. But I really liked it and it was fun to see all the nordic influenced dialect words. Thanks for the tip!

Pubdoll said...

Thanks Oese!
You can say "with more niveau" to me since I'm Norwegian and we say it too, or at least almost, we would have said "with a better niveau" or "with a higher niveau" :-)

I'm glad you liked the show, I hope it wasn't just because you won :-) I think everybody agree that your song was much better than the rest of them. And thanks for noticing the changing TV-pictures :-) I had found one of Lena as well, but that was from the German final and since she didn't take part in any of the semi-finals I didn't know how she would look in the final.

I hope your hand will be better soon!

And is it really 28 years since Nicole won! I can still remember the song and much of the lyrics too, it was really beautiful :-)

Pubdoll said...

Sans, don't worry, the dolls are still partying, playing "satellite" over and over again :-)
And if you have a make up worth waiting 5 hours for, I'm sure you're looking swell!

So nice you and Oese could have a little chat at the party when I was otherwise engaged :-)

Pubdoll said...

Thanks Dale!
I love that shade of green as well, if you remove the sparkle it's quite close to the colour of my kitchen walls :-)

Well Hello there... Glad you are back in business. Missed you terribly but understood. I'm remodeling two life size homes right now so somedays I don't even turn the computer on. Plus it's summer time and I love my new garden. I do keep blogging on my list so the thoughts are there. When I am done with all the work I will have my very own Doll's House Room. That's the motivation that keeps me working. I really hope all is going great for you and so good to see you behind your camera sharing with us. Hugs, Amy

Hee hee! This is great!

Thanks Amy! I've really enjoyed reading all your stories about your peeps, but I don't spend more than few minutes by the computer each time, so I haven't gotten around to comment.

Decorating two houses at the same time sounds like a daunting task,(we have now spent almost 10 years restoring our house) but how great your getting your own doll's house room!!!

Thanks Modern MC! So great to hear from you again! :-)
