Throwing a party in a glasshouse

In my last post you saw Karl Edo preparing his living room for a party. But the day for the party arrived with sun from a blue sky and Karl Edo decided to turn it into a garden party to show off his outdoor furniture and his pool.

The windows can slide up for a seamless transition between indoors and outdoors.

Two cafe chairs by the small pool. Even though Karl Edos has strategically placed plants to secure some privacy, I still don't think anyone will be using the bathroom during the party...

The terrace outside the bedroom on the first floor, with the staircase up to

the roof terrace. Karl Edo is pleased with his new slimline furniture from Dedon.

A vintage deck chair updated with new fabric.

And then the guests arrive. Nora and Helmer brought their children Tomy and Annika and also Ida, the eldest daughter of Helmer's brother Henrik, joined them since she loves swimming.

Arne, Nora and Helmer enjoying the sun and the view from the roof.

Polly Line is back from her journey with dr Whatson. She's tired from all the excitement, but everyone is eager to hear all about her adventures!

Poolish fun (a foolish pun)

Credits: Cafe chair, table and parasol from Mighty World. White deck chairs are by Lundby from their Stockholm series. The vintage deckchair is a Lundby chair from my childhood with a new fabric. The "slimline furniture from Dedon" are made by me, it's my first try on making sofas. The potted plants are also made by me, I used floor protections for chairs. Vases are by Elisabeth Causeret and beads.

Absolutely LOVE this!!! The plants are amazing -- they look like vintage TOMY plants. And your sofa and table are incredible! I love the fabric and the lines of the pieces. What is Dedon? Are you starting a new line? ;) I hope so -- I'd buy it!

*Sukk*, den som hadde bodd i et så stilig hus...

Thanks callsmall!
Dedon is a real life factory who makes the Slimline furniture that inspired me, but I thought my version differed too much from the original, (I didn't manange to get it slim enough because of the resistence of the material I used) so I didn't want to add a link to them so everyone could see my faults :-)

The material I used was quite expencive, I bought a tablemat when I was in Paris, but it cost more than 25 euro, so I bought just one, and now I have used almost all of it :(

Tusen takk Anne Mari! Hadde vært kjekt med alle de terrassene og svømmebassenget, men jeg er glad jeg ikke har alle de vinduene i mitt baderom :-)

I love your out door furniture and the market umbrella. I hope Karl does not serve a lot of beverages. The patio and pool are wonderful! Oh you give the BEST parties! C

Thank you Carol! "I hope Karl does not serve a lot of beverages" very funny :-) I don't know, I think I spotted winebottles almost everywhere, poor guests ;-)

Pubdoll said...

Thank you Glenda, so nice you made it to the party! But too bad I missed you, everyone at the party said it was so nice to have you there!

Thank you Mercedes, Karl Edo was very happy to hear you liked his house!

Love it, Karl throws great parties :)
Love the poolside furniture too!

I love your Dedon furniture. Pretty impressive for your first go. :) Congrats!!

Thank you Natalie, I hope you joined in :-)

Thank you Mini Dork, I'm almost pleased with them, I just thought it would be easier to get that slimline look, but the tablemat won't cooperate... I have bought myself a whole lot of different kinds of glue now, in hope to find the right glue that will be strong enough to get me the sharp edges I want :-)

What a wonderful setting for a party! So many areas to hang out in. I think Karl Edo is going to have to find a screen or curtain for that bathroom. This party looks so relaxed, with so many places to sit or lie and chat, take in the view and the nice summer weather, *while drinking*, that I can't see the guests leaving very quickly! Besides, he put so much effort into his living room, surely he'll want them to stay on and move inside when it gets too cool to be outside? Screening the bathroom seems to be the only thing he hasn't thought of, in fact. Perhaps it's because he lives alone, and doesn't usually give it any thought at all ;-)

Oh, I've just thought what the guests could do - take it in turns to hold up a towel for each other, as if they were camping! Bet that would get Karl Edo onto it quick smart!

Helene, have you ever shown this rather wonderful pad? I mean, gloriously wonderful ! This is just amazing! And I thought you might have made the Dedon cos I know you made a sofa. But at first, I thought it might be something new you bought :)
I am really really impressed. Fine, fine job, lady!

You know we think 25Euros is expensive but if you should pay for a set like this, it should at least cost 5 times more or more!

We all use chair caps , don't we ..haha :). I may want to redo my pot because my shape is wrong but I think yours turn out perfect. I just love making plants . They are very addictive.

I love everyone's new clothes, esp Polly Line. Did Coco make them ? Or did you?

I can't get over that pool or the sliding door. What house is this?

Pubdoll said...

Thank you Rebecca for your nice comments and your holding towels suggestion made me laught out loud! Great idea, but you're absolutely right, that bathroom does need some screening. I must admit the problem hadn't occured to me until I saw the photos.
And you're right, it has been a long party, infact the guests still haven't left :-)

But I'm not quite sure about the living alone thing. Karl Edo claims he is, but there are two toothbrushes in his bathroom...

Pubdoll said...

Thanks Sans I'm glad you liked my sofas and you're right, as sofas they're not that expencive:-) That they are worth 5 times as much is stretching it far too far though, but thanks :-) (And if I had bought them for that price, I'm sure they would have been without my flaws :-))

Yes, I love chair caps, they are brilliant as flower pots and you already know I used chair caps for the seating on my barstools.

The clothes this time, even Polly Line's outfit are all provided by Lundby, except for the men's trousers which are by Cocco.

The pad/house is Lundbys Stockholm house from 2005 and you may have seen it as the last photo on this post, but without the pool, which on that photo is hidden under the house.

Sans! said...

Helene , your guests can always use the pool and for the guys, maybe your chair cap potted plants since the bathroom is exposed anyway :). No wonder your guests are not leaving their seats. I wouldn't dare move if I have to pee badly and there's nowhere to go!!!

The house is just gorgeous! I loved the furniture, the car is sooo cute, so many wonderful details, and the pool is a dream of mine, love it!

Pubdoll said...

Sans you're hilarious! I think I have to go and clean the pool :-)

Pubdoll said...

Thank you Victoria, when I have cleaned up the pool after the guests you're most welcome to come for a swim :-)

What a beautiful summer day to have an indoor/outdoor party...and what a wonderful house Karl Edo has! Your pics look like a spread from the US Southern Living mag...with the exception of the booze, of course! I think your Dedon pieces are fabulous and I wish I were as creative as you.
Rory breathed a sigh of relief when he noticed Karl Edo had not invited anyone like his neighbor "ladies"...but he was jealous of Karl Edo's pool...and probably his bathroom too!

Pubdoll said...

Thank you Flo, what a great compliment to get that the pictures look like a spread from a magazine! :-)

You know, the weather wasn't all that good. After finally having brought everything outside and finished the styling, it started to rain, so I had to bring inside again everything that would be ruined by water. Luckily it wasn't all that much since the house is made of plastic and I could close the windows :-)

So nice Rory "attended" the party :-) And no such ladies here. With children present Karl Edo had to be careful who he invited. Even tante Fiolett paa Traadén (Aunt Violets It Slip) can be a bit daunting sometimes :-) It's quite small, but Rory is most welcome to come for a swim in the pool, and I suppose it's better with a bathroom only suitable for exhibitionists, than no bathroom at all:-)
