16th December

Today I got these cartons with juice and packages with rice and pasta.
It doesn't seem the Lund family are going to starve any time soon! (And with that I mean my daughter's family; Carol Line and Helmer Lund and their seven children. I think the packages are a bit too big to use in any of my houses)

That's a great pity if they are out of scale, maybe you could do a swap with a 1:12 dollhouse person??

Thanks Norma, but I think they would be a bit too big in the 1:12 scale too. (In the 1:12 scale the juice cartons would hold about 4 liters)
But I'm sure my daughter won't mind they're a bit on the large side, or she could use the juice cartons for her Barbie :-)

Barbie sounds like the perfect recipient :)

Interesting that Lundby would put outsize food packets in the calendar! Not all dolls mind things out of scale - at least, mine have never complained!
Perhaps they are meant to be commercial scale, for cafes or reception rooms, behind the scenes? But I'm sure Henrik and Carol's children will get through them very quickly - they almost need commercial scale quantities of food just for themselves!

Nicola and Rebecca, I'm not all surprised that Lundby has too large gifts in the calendar, so far I'm just surprised it hasn't been more of them :-) I have for years said that Lundby doesn't understand scale. In the beginning, Lundy claimed to be 1:15 scale, when I got my doll's house it was supposed to be in 1:16 scale, and now they say on the homepage that they are 1:18 scale. If that were the case, Helmer and his family and friends would be giants! And all this time their houses have been exactly the same size, while much of their furniture have become larger, especially in the Stockholm series. If you compare the Stockholm red sofa to the Brasilia sofa, it's obvious that the latter can't be in a larger scale than the first one!

But like you say Rebecca, I'm sure Carol Line and Henrik's children won't mind at all :-)

I have some too and I was thinking of opening them flat and color xeroxing them smaller to tailor them to any scale. I don't think it would hurt the boxes to flatten and then reasseble them because I bet they were printed flat then assembled. C

Great idea C! Perhaps I will try it out on one of the juice cartons.

1:16 is already hard to fathom for me, Helene. I now wonder if the bookends are too big for you? May I also say that's a weird package for rice. Is that how rice are packed in Europe? :).
